I just woke up to be greeted by mass messages of another mutiny happening in the country. Senator Antonio Trillanes is leading the march on Makati as of this post, calling for the ouster of an illegitimate president. While I’m not really much into Philippine politics, I’m writing this or rather ranting it because it affects everyone. More after the jump!
It’s a hassle especially now that the Christmas season is nearby. Instead of Filipinos silently uniting in happiness towards the Yuletide season, this mutiny is instead trying to shatter the nation once again.
It’s not that I’m pro-Arroyo and anti-Trillanes here, (I’m neither) in fact, I enjoy watching when big things happen (such as Edsa 2) in our country. But the timing is just off with this new mutiny. They could have just waited for the Christmas season to be over before they launched this move. Bad decision on their side, and they would only be viewed as the villain of the story by most people because of it. It’s too late for them to “cancel” it now that they began marching on the streets of Makati and called for the support of the people. And by the way, they even have their own “blog“.
This is their statement:
RISE UP AND BE COUNTED
We presently find in existence a dangerous concept where the armed forces now owe their primary allegiance and loyalty to those who temporarily exercise the authority of the executive branch of the government rather than to the country and the Constitution they have worn to protect.
That is a concept we defy and struggle to eradicate. If you believe you are a man of will and courage with unselfish motives and brave enough to fight against such tyranny, RISE UP AND BE COUNTED!
And with that said, only God knows what happens next to our country…
